ROLLING STONES - EXILE ON MAIN STREET

C'è un filo conduttore che lega l'album che ho postato precedentemente (Jamming With Edward) a quello di oggi: la presenza di Edward (Nicky Hopkins) ed anche anche una certa affinità stilistica. Un grande album degli Stones risalente al periodo in cui  Mick Taylor, subentrato a Brian Jones,  ne fece parte dal '69 al '74.

The Rolling Stones -  Tumbling Dice

Un album fortemente influenzato dal blues gia' solo a partire dalla grafica, che da questo punto di vista ne fa il mio  preferito di Jagger & friends. Dal punto di vista dei contenuti di questo orginario doppio vinile, trovi il Rock'n Roll rilanciato dagli Stones (Rocks Off,  Rip This Joint, All Down The Line ),  le Ballads di ampio respiro sostenute dalla chitarra acustica di Richards  suonata col plettro,  ( Sweet Virginia, Torn And Frayed con l'uso della pedal steel guitar tipica delle atmosfere on the road ed il piano di Nicky, oppure con il semplice apporto dell'armonica di Jagger e di percussioni in  Sweet Black Angel).. E ancora la splendida Tumbling Dice, Happy, All Down The Line, Soul Survivor, Shine A Light, Loving Cup,  tutti brani rock  tipici della band inglese.
Si diceva della presenza del blues, esplicita in Ventilator Blues,  Shake Your Hips, basata su un solo accordo ed un incedere ossessivo di canto ed accompagnamento alla John Lee Hooker,  e Stop Breacking Down: brani intrisi del sound sporco e cattivo prodotto dall'armonica e dai riff  slide a profusione  di chitarre   suonate con il  'bottle nack', presenti anche in  Turd On The Run, Casino Boogie. Infine c'è la bella, suggestiva, tribale I Just Want His Face giocata fra l'organo, le percussioni e un coretto soul, insolita e preziosa per questo..
